We won’t change our tune for racists

2011-09-17 10:21

Sizwe esimnyama (black nation), be afraid when you are told by an Afrikaner organisation representing minority white racists and a white judge that singing “Dubula ibhunu” is hate speech.

Let us blacks not forget that the song gave us strength during our struggle against apartheid.

It’s the very same courts that let off lightly a white racist rugby player who killed a black man.

Are these white racists now going to tell us not to sing Hamba kahle Mkhonto (Farewell cadre) at funerals of fallen comrades or other songs like Safa saphela isizwe esimnyama (The black nation is perishing)?

It is painful that Judge Colin Lamont passed such a judgment on the same date (September 12) that we remember Stephen Bantu Biko, who was killed by racists.

The time has come for black South Africans to direct their own future.
