They have gone from music makers to record agency bosses and now Liquideep are back on the charts.

The house duo, comprised of Ryzor and Ziyon, rocketed to local stardom in 2007 and are hoping to become hit makers all over again with their new album, Welcome Aboard.

Things have changed during the band’s three-year chart hiatus. For starters, there’s tough competition – in the form of serial chart toppers Mi Casa.

Ryzor and Ziyon aren’t too worried though. They say they love making music and “don’t take too much time” worrying about the pressure on them to deliver.

In an interview with City Press, Ziyon said they hadn’t been idle for the past three years. During that time, they left Universal Records and set up their own label, Mentalwave.

They’ve recently signed two new artists to their stable and have rereleased their hit album, Fabrics of the Heart. It went gold for a second time.

The two have also toured the African continent, Asia, Russia and South America.

Welcome Aboard, which was released this week and is available on iTunes, is “something different, but we are still Liquideep”, they said.

“The pressure is always there, but we don’t take much time to think about it,” Ziyon said.

Ryzor said their fans could expect elements of hip-hop, rhythm and blues, and electro.

“There are other tracks where we went into studio and just went crazy.”
