Heavy rains are also expected in the south-eastern parts of the country, including the Free State, southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal, Lesotho and the Eastern Cape.

From Friday onwards there is a 60% chance of rain in Gauteng, North West, the Highveld areas in Mpumalanga and the northern parts of the country.

A warning of the possibility of wild fires in the Western Cape was also issued today.
