What to do on Youth Day

A guide to Youth Day activities and celebrations.

Cape Town:

» Dance4life, a company aiming to bring the youth together through rhythm and dance will attempt the “biggest ever diski-dance” to celebrate Youth Day. More than 200 “diski dancers” will mingle in the crowd, with regular practice runs throughout the day.

Approximately 25 000 people will participate, just before the Bafana Bafana game at the Cape Town Fifa Fan Fest (Grande Parade, 7pm), in the hopes of setting a world record.

» The Rhino Room will host the Eternal Youth party, featuring six DJs. Doors open at 7pm.

Gauteng:
» Bafana Bafana plays against Uruguay at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria at 8.30pm.

» The cities of Johannesburg and Pretoria celebrate Youth Day in unison. A carnival parade from Solomon Mahlangu Church Square to Moretele Park in Pretoria, forms part of the programme. It starts at 3.30pm.

Nelspruit:
» Honduras plays Chile in a 2010 Fifa World Cup match at the Mbombela Stadium at 1.30pm.

Durban:
» Spain faces Switzerland in a 2010 Fifa World Cup match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban at 4pm.

» The annual Kraaines Market Fair is raising money for charity by means of more than 150 shopping stalls in the Glencoe community. It’s open all day.
