When sex means money in any lingo

2011-02-19 18:35

A husky, breathless female voice asks the caller whether he prefers his story in English or Setswana.

The Setswana story starts with a listen-in on an intimate act taking place between the storyteller and her partner.

The voice proceeds to describe – in graphic detail – the events that led up to the moment, with copious amounts of moaning and groaning thrown in. This carries on for a few minutes until the story reaches its climax.

Adult entertainment company Sondeza has ensured that South Africans can turn on the magic any time, any place and in almost any language.

This week it expanded its “local is lekker” empire with phone-sex lines.

“Many black people grew up on oral story traditions.

“There are also vernacular stories told on various radio stations every day,” says Tau Monare, Sondeza’s creator.

This week, on Twitter and Facebook, Monare gave out the phone numbers of the new sex lines.

“Not many people have access to the internet to go on the website all the time. There are also people who like to use their imagination and this is the perfect platform for them to do that,” he says.

Those who prefer to listen to sexual encounters in vernacular languages will soon be able to hear them in more than just English and Setswana.

“All we have to do is find people who can tell the stories fluently in local languages, in ways that can turn on the magic,” Monare says.

He says that they have been getting good feedback.

This looks set to be another successful venture for the company, which nets close to 200 000 website impressions a day.

Mapona Volume 1, SA’s first black porno movie, has sold more than 5 000 copies and is often sold out at most adult stores, according to Monare.
