Who to watch at #ANCpolicy – President Jacob Zuma

2012-06-25 14:17

ANC lobby groups will use the policy conference as a thermometer to measure just how hot their candidates are among ordinary delegates.

Zuma has already indicated, in the way he dealt with his most vocal opponents in the form of expelled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema, that he wants to clear his way for a second term.

This conference will be crucial for that, because not only will it tell him – and show the rest of South Africa – how much support he has, getting the conference to pass policies he is propagating will be a massive confidence boost for him.

Zuma will give speeches at the opening and closing of the conference, and he will use these to sort out ANC problems and just generally put opponents in their place.
