Who’s really to blame?

2011-06-10 10:21

Is the issue of homelessness really that serious or does it just appear so because it is frequently covered in the media?

Don’t get me wrong, either way the issue of homelessness needs government involvement.

Politicians blame one another; caregivers blame government, and the public blames drugs, poverty etc.

Is government to blame for the homeless for not providing enough mental healthcare centres (if there’s any)?

Because I find that most homeless people are mentally ill.

But with all this finger pointing there’s a group of people who get least blame, the homeless themselves.

The homeless who no longer want to be homeless will do something to get off the streets.

Ask for a day’s job instead of a cigarette or the R5 for bread (benzene they mean).

Some of them choose to remain on the streets because they want a life free of responsibilities.

So who really is to blame?
