Winnie receives ubuntu honour

2011-09-30 07:25

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela will receive an “ubuntu honour” in Midrand north of Johannesburg today, the National Heritage Council said.

The honour is bestowed on global personalities whose lives epitomised an expression of ubuntu values and promoted a just and caring society, the council explained.

This year the council launched an ubuntu campaign that would encourage every citizen to embrace the positive values of humanity, simplified to include respect, love, honesty, compassion, forgiveness, humility and unity.

Madikizela-Mandela would receive the honour at a ceremony to be held at Gallagher Estate in Midrand.
