Woman arrested for child rape

2010-10-04 07:49

A woman has been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old boy in a village near KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga.

The alleged crime came to light when the boy was caught allegedly breaking into and stealing money from a neighbour’s house on Friday afternoon, spokesperson Sergeant Nonhlanhla Kgosana said.

“During confrontation about his crime, the boy told his mother and the owner of the house that a woman from next door raped him the previous day. He said he desperately needed the money to go and consult a traditional healer because his private parts were itchy.”

The woman was arrested at her home and charged with rape. The boy was taken to KwaMhlanga Hospital for treatment.

The teenager apparently told police that the rapes started in June last year. The woman had allegedly been luring him into her house after school.

“The woman would rape the boy while her husband and the mother of the boy were at work.”

The 36-year-old unemployed married mother of three children was expected to appear in the KwaMhlanga Magistrate’s Court today.
