Woman arrested over school fraud

2011-06-15 12:48

A woman who allegedly fraudulently withdrew R226 500 from a primary school’s account in Meadowlands, Soweto, was arrested, police said today.

Constable Sibusiso Chauke said the 40-year-old woman, who was a treasurer at the school, was arrested yesterday.

She allegedly linked her card with the school’s account and had been withdrawing money since April, he said.

The principal and school governing body members were told about the withdrawals and confirmed them with the bank.

Chauke said the woman would be appearing in the Protea Magistrates Court on Friday.
