Woman with Wanjiru takes blame for his death

2011-05-20 14:20

A woman having an affair with Olympic marathon champion Samuel Wanjiru is blaming herself for his death.

Wanjiru died from a fall from his bedroom balcony.

Jane Nduta says that Wanjiru died last week while trying to get the key for his bedroom door from his wife, who locked Nduta and Wanjiru in the room when she found the two there.

The 21-year-old Nduta says if she had not gone to Wanjiru’s home he may still be alive, but she adds that the runner had convinced her that his wife was not around.

Nduta says she and Wanjiru had been in a relationship for three months.

Wanjiru’s victory at the 2009 Beijing Games was Kenya’s first Olympic gold medal in the marathon.
