Women cleared of raping mentally challenged boys

2013-07-19 08:43

Two women accused of raping and sexually assaulting two 17-year-old mentally challenged boys have been acquitted by the Protea Magistrate’s Court.

A 27-year-old and her relative, a teenage girl, allegedly assaulted the boys in White City, Soweto, last year.

One of the women allegedly led the boys into her house, and made one of them have sex with her, telling him they were making a baby, The Star reported today.

Magistrate Audrey Mpofu yesterday found both women not guilty on all charges because the boy who was allegedly raped had difficulty answering questions during cross-examinaton.

An educational psychologist had testified that the boys’ mental capacities were of the ages six and eight.

Mpofu said it would have been easier if DNA samples had been taken, The Star reported.
