THE arrival of the World Cup trophy in South Africa signalled the

end of pessimism about the country’s readiness to host the 2010 Fifa World

This was said by Local Organising Committee chief executive Danny

Jordaan after the trophy touched down in Cape Town on last night.

Jordaan said it was all systems go as the country prepared to host

the World Cup draw on Friday night.

“The arrival of this trophy is the beginning of reality and those

who did not believe in us should now accept that the World Cup will be played

here,” said Jordaan.

The Coca Cola trophy tour has seen the trophy travelling through 50

African countries before it landed in Cape Town from Lesotho.

The official 32-day South African trophy tour starts at the

beginning of May and takes place through all the nine provinces.
