What would youth day celebrations be without YFM?

The youth radio station which has garnered an impressive following over the years went all out with their school-themed party with a difference at Bus Factory in Newtown, Johannesburg.

This year marked their 5th annual Youth Day event, with a production designed to commemorate 35 years since the historic events of 1976 – the year that changed the course of history for all South Africans, particularly the youth.

Choreographed by the one and only Somizi Mhlongo, the show was a spectacular celebration of music and fashion showcasing South Africa’s history in a creative way.

Performances included new school hip-hop performer Kwesta, Speedy and Stoan, female powerhouse singers Relo, Lucia Mthiyane and Nothende, and SA Music Awards winner Professor who undoubtedly got the crowd into a tail-spin.

Showcasing their fashion at the event were none other than Ephrahim, Uyanda Mbuli, Gert Coetzee, Thula Sindi and hip-hop street brand StrussBob.

And to add to the festivities YFM DJs Tumi Voster, Eda Rose, Kgomotso Taje, Hlelo and Ntando Masina and drive-time host Dineo Ranaka showed that they were more than just faces behind the mic in their ensembles.

DJ Warras, Dimplez and Tira all made sure there was the right mix of music to keep revellers on the floor.
