South Africa’s queer community has always known that photographer and lesbian activist Zanele Muholi is a superhero.

She’s worked tirelessly and selflessly to document lesbian rape survivors and transgender citizens, committing herself to the cause rather than glorifying herself.

Now the popular European magazine Agenda has confirmed it.

The international award-winning Muholi is their June cover star, dressed up as Wonder Woman in a beauty pageant with a sash that reads “black lesbian”. Agenda is basically the Time Out of Belgium.

It’s a free, weekly, trilingual magazine listing must-do events with an accent on culture in Brussels and other parts of the world.

Muholi made the cover for being part of a group show called Where We’re At! Other Voices on Gender, now on at the Bozar Palais Des Beaux-Arts Brussels as part of the city’s Month of Photography 2014.
