Zuma assault case adjourned to January

2010-12-10 09:16

The assault case against a Gauteng racehorse owner who allegedly spilled his drink on President Jacob Zuma at the Durban July has been postponed to January 26.

Daryl Peense (31) of Alberton, Johannesburg, briefly appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court today, accompanied by four relatives.

State prosecutor A Gyaparsad said the trial could not start because Peense’s attorney had made representations to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The state alleges Peense spilled his drink on Zuma at the event.
