Zuma in New York to address UN

President Jacob Zuma arrived in New York for the 67th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the office of the Presidency has said.

Spokesperson Mac Maharaj said the president would address the assembly tomorrow.

South Africa would pursue a number of policy objectives on the UN agenda including peace in the Middle East, the reform of international institutions as well as the global financial crisis, said Maharaj.

Zuma was accompanied by the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Jeff Radebe and Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
