Zuma junior comes home

2011-11-12 19:51

President Jacob Zuma might be fielding missiles from all sides in his political life, but at least there’s one thing that makes him smile – his granddaughter is finally home.

Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile, who gave birth prematurely in September, finally took her baby girl home
last Monday after the baby spent 75 days in an incubator at a Sandton hospital.

According to a close friend of the family: “The baby was released from hospital on 31 October after being born two and half months’ premature.”

Duduzile (28) has been keeping a low profile since she married businessman Lonwabo Sambudla in April this year.

This week City Press got hold of the Baby City registry opened under Duduzile’s name on October 31. We found that the first daughter is not as extravagant with her child as she was with her own birthday party two years ago, which came with a tab of more than R400 000.

It listed at least 13 items, the most expensive being the Angelcare digital sound monitor – a baby breathing sensor – for R1 350. The least expensive was a scented baby disposal bin for R100.

The registry list, which was closed yesterday, included a solid feeding set for R850, a R570 Tiny Princess mobile and mini-gym for R700.

According to our source, only a few people have been to see the baby, one of whom was the president.

“The baby was in ICU so not many people have seen her. For now Dudu is trying to adjust to being a mother. She is definitely very excited and enjoying being a mother,” said the source.

When City Press attempted to contact Zuma through her publicist Farah Fortune, she said no interviews would be granted until next year.
