President Jacob Zuma would pay a working visit to Namibia to discuss economic relations, the Department of International Relations and Cooperation said today.

“The working visit takes place within the context of the Heads of State Economic Bilateral (Hoseb) between South Africa and Namibia,” the department said.

“The meeting will review progress made thus far, and add impetus by promoting mutual economic cooperation, trade coordination, and development as identified and agreed upon.”

Zuma heads for the Namibian capital, Windhoek, on Thursday on invitation by President Hifikepunye Pohamba.

The bilateral meeting will focus on economic co-operation and may include issues ranging from the environment, transport, communication, agriculture and energy to science and technology, trade and industry, and regional integration.

The president will be accompanied by government ministers and senior government officials.

Minister of International Relations and Co-operation Maite Nkoana-Mashabane, Minister of Trade and Industry Rob Davies, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Tina Joemat-Pettersson, Minister of Energy Elizabeth Dipuo Peters and Minister of Mineral Resource Susan Shabangu will accompany him.

Minister of Transport Sibusiso Ndebele, Minister of Tourism Marthinus Van Schalkwyk, and Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor would also form part of the delegation.
