President Jacob Zuma will visit Soweto in his capacity as ANC leader today ahead of local government elections next month, the governing party said.

“Jacob Zuma will visit Soweto to strengthen partnerships and speak to people to make a decisive vote for the ANC,” the African National Congress in Gauteng said.

He will be accompanied by Gauteng chairperson Paul Mashatile, Johannesburg mayor Amos Masondo and several other provincial leaders.

His visit will start at the Hector Pieterson Memorial Site at 10.20am.

Zuma was also scheduled to address an ANC rally at Thokoza Park around 4.30pm.

Local government elections will take place on May 18.
