There were a few light moments at the Ntolwane Primary School when one of President Jacob Zuma’s daughters discovered she was not on the voter’s roll.

Msholozi Zuma accompanied the head of state during his visit to Ntolwane – where he votes – to see that he was correctly registered.

While the first citizen was on the roll, IEC official Thandi Sibisi told Msholozi, Zuma’s daughter with African Union chairperson Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, that she wasn’t.

Sapa reported that her identity document had indicated Swaziland as her country of birth. Zuma had to explain that she was born in exile and that she had voted before. She was changing her voting area from Cape Town to Nkandla.

There was a flurry of activity, during which Zuma stood outside talking on his cellphone, with a phalanx of minders placed at strategic points to keep nosy journalists far enough away so that they were beyond earshot.

Zuma junior, who remained inside the polling station while her father was talking, was eventually enrolled as a voter at Ntolwane.
