1860 legacy: give up 150 munites

2010-11-11 00:00

THE Umgungundlovu 1860 Legacy Foundation encourages all South Africans to dedicate 150 minutes on the November 16, 2010, to community upliftment.

Through this initiative it is hoped that disadvantaged members of the community can benefit in some tangible way.

Dr Raj Govender, acting general manager in the provincial Arts and Culture Department, said the project is to be known as Operation 1860.

“Through this endeavour we want to recognise the spirit of community living and the advantages of extended families which were characteristic of the indentured Indians when they came to South Africa,” Govender said.

For more ideas and information about Operation 1860 e-mail Govender at raj@kzndac.gov.za or call him at 083 307 8979, or phone Koushik Maharaj at 033 394 0044.
