1ooth birthday: Zuma visits Josie Nel

2007-12-26 00:00

Newly elected African National Congress president Jacob Zuma took time off from his victory celebrations in Greytown on Sunday to congratulate Josie Nel, who celebrated her 100th birthday in the town the day before. Mrs Nel’s daughter, Jeanne Jennings, said her mother appreciated the visit and felt that Zuma wanting to show his respect was a very gracious gesture.

Zuma spent just over 30 minutes with Mrs Nel, the widow of legendary Springbok captain Phillip Nel, at her home in Greytown, chatting in Zulu about rugby.
