20/20 night series back tonight, plus a key club match on Sunday

2008-11-20 00:00

ROUND two of the festive KFC Inland 20/20 series takes place at the Varsity Oval tonight, while the KZN Inland Premier 60 club cricket competition continues on Sunday.

The KFC Inland 20/20 got off to a great start last week and another decent crowd is expected to once again make the trip to the Varsity Oval in the Peter Booysen Sports Park off Golf Road for this regular Friday night fare.

Zingari meet Masibemunye in the 4 pm match, with Standard taking on Young Natalians in the 7 pm hit-out.

By far the biggest Premier 60 match on Sunday sees high-riding Varsity, the reigning champions, facing off against fellow title-chasers Midlands on the Varsity Oval.

The top five wicket-takers in the Premier League at this stage of the season sees left-arm spinner and Standard captain Kyle Nipper way out in front with 19 wickets, followed by Varsity fast bowler Ollie Humphries (11), then Doug Watson, Morne van Vuuren and Lyndon Brown (10 apiece).

The top five Premier League run-scorers so far sees Varsity’s Glen Addicott (249 runs) followed by team-mate Tafadzwa Chiota (246), Brendon Jones (235), Murray Hampson (234) and Nipper in fifth.
