THE marking of 2013 matric scripts has been completed and the collating of marks is currently under way.

According to the KZN Department of Education marking was finished on Friday, December 13.

The examinations unit is busy with data capturing and will send the information to the national Education Department and KZN Education Department for standardisation and quality control. Spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi confirmed that matric results will be released by the Minister for Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, on January 6, 2014. The KZN Education MEC Peggy Nkonyeni will release the provincial results on January 7.

There were 27 marking centres throughout KZN where 9 500 markers were employed marking over 2,3 million examination scripts.

Head of the KZN Education Department Dr Nkosinathi Sishi yesterday thanked the markers for doing a “sterling job”. He said they worked with dedication, a high level of precision and integrity during the marking process this year.
