THREE people were killed and 17 injured in two separate road accidents at the weekend.

Two women died and six were injured when a bakkie overturned on the N11 and crashed through a fence into a nearby veld.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics arrived on the scene and found a bakkie lying 100 metres in the veld, with the injured scattered around the vehicle.

“Paramedics discovered a woman in her 70s had sustained fatal injuries in the collision,” he said, adding that seven other women aged between 70 and 80 years, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.

After being treated at the scene they were taken to various hospitals.

In another incident yesterday afternoon 11 people were injured and an elderly woman died in a minibus accident near Nagle Dam.

EMRS spokesperson Robert Mckenzie said it is believed the taxi overturned and when paramedics arrived they found the taxi on a small dirt road.
