4-dayer: rain spoils opening day of Cobras, Knights game

2012-09-28 00:00

WINTER is back in the Cape with a bang. Already before the scheduled start of play in the Sunfoil Series match between the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras and the Chevrolet Knights at Boland Bank in Paarl, the umpires inspected conditions and decided that no play would be possible on the opening day.

Heavy overnight rain took its toll on the outfield. Sadly, this is not the first time that this situation has occurred.

Two seasons ago, the same happened with a match against the Dolphins, but the Cobras responded so well, thanks to a JP Duminy double century, that they won well within the eventual three days that were possible.
