A rockin’ sequel

2010-09-11 00:00

THE Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato are ready to rock the summer in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, a rock ‘n roll musical that celebrates music, dance and the freedom of summer.

The new film, which includes tracks like Can’t Back Down, Fire and Wouldn’t Change a Thing, can be seen on Disney Channel (DStv channel 303) at 9 am on September 18. It will repeat at various times on September 19, with further repeats on September 20.

This sequel to 2008’s Camp Rock opens with Mitchie Torres (Lovato), hoping to spend a little time with her beau, Shane Gray (Joe Jonas), from the band Connect 3. Shane and his brothers, Nate and Jason ((Nick and Kevin Jonas) have just done a world tour and are looking forward to a little down time at the camp owned by their uncle, guitar legend Brown Cesario (Daniel Fathers).

But those plans are turned upside down by the appearance of Camp Star across the lake. This hi-tech, big-money music camp, funded by Brown’s former bandmate-with-a-grudge Axel Turner (Daniel Kash), has lured away many instructors and campers, putting the future of Camp Rock in jeopardy.

Determined not to let her beloved camp close, Mitchie organises the older campers into counsellors, but her busy schedule leaves little time for romance, much to Shane’s disgust.

Nate, meanwhile, finds himself falling for classical pianist Dana (Chloe Bridges), the daughter of the rival camp’s owner. But the pair find themselves competing for votes when the Camp Rockers go head to head with the Camp Star campers, led by Luke (hip-hop artist Matthew “Mdot” Finley) in a final jam — an end-of-summer performance duel. Tune in to find out who wins.

Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, which was written by Dan Berendsen (Hannah Montana: The Movie and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie), Karin Gist and Regina Hicks and directed by Paul Hoen (The Cheetah Girls One World and Jump In), will be available on Blue Ray and DVD on October 1, along with a Nintendo DS game, which will allow players to create an avatar to join Mitchie and the gang at Camp Rock.

The Camp Rock 2 soundtrack is already available in stores around the country.
