2008-01-18 00:00

Celebrate Valentine’s Day in style at the Playhouse with Romance is in the Air. This is a special Valentine’s Day concert with the KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic Orchestra (KZNPO), choreographed by Mark Hawkins, on February 14.

The glitzy occasion will feature a line-up of top acts, including Tim Moloi, Joseph Clark, Nompumelelo Zondi, Melanie Louw, the popular violin trio, BraVa, and guitar whiz Rowan Stuart, along with a high- profile line-up of leading South African dancers. The evening’s MCs, poet Lebo Mashile and Isidingo star Robert Whitehead will bring a special buzz to the event. Members of the audience are invited to contribute to the glamour of the occasion by joining the artists in appearing in designer evening wear.

Conducted by Naum Rousine, the orchestra’s programme includes items such as Strauss’s immortal The Blue Danube and Gershwin’s much-loved Summertime. There will also be romantic showstoppers like All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera; the Balcony Pas de Deux from Tchaikovsky’s Romeo & Juliet; My Heart Will Go On from Titanic; a hot swing medley comprising of Have You Met Miss Jones, Come Fly With Me, and Ain’t That a Kick in the Head.

Early booking is advised. Booking is through Computicket at 083 915 8000 or the Playhouse Box Office on 031 369 9540 / 9596.
