ANC councillor dies, praised for commitment and passion

2014-12-23 00:00

ANC councillor Jafta Sithole of Ward 10 in the Imbabazane Local Municipality has died in hospital after a short illness.

Sithole had served as the chief whip of the ANC in the municipal council since 2011.

“We are greatly saddened by the news of the passing away of Councillor Sithole, who had distinguished himself as an exemplary elected public representative, serving his constituency within Imbabazane with utmost commitment and passion,” said KZN Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube.

Dube-Ncube said Sithole’s death has left a void in both the ANC, whose municipal caucus he led as chief whip, and the local authority where he was known as a dedicated servant of the people.

“The community of Imbabazane has lost a dedicated individual who always placed its interests before his own and, in doing so, contributed immensely to the upliftment of the people who elected him to represent them in the council,” said Dube-Ncube.

Dube-Ncube said Cogta’s thoughts and prayers are with his family.
