ANC should aim for 100% at polls, says Zuma

2013-07-27 00:00

IF things go President Jacob Zuma’s way, the ANC would win a 100% poll in the upcoming general election.

“I hear you want 70% in polls, but I want three thirds, not two thirds. We must collect everything and that means everyone must dirty their hands,” Zuma said yesterday.

He was reacting to earlier statements by ANC eThekwini region’s Sibongiseni Dhlomo, who said the region aimed to garner 90% as opposed to the KZN province’s 70%.

Zuma was in the province as part of the ANC registration drive and to report back on the work of the government since 1994.

He told ANC supporters at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi that there were many who went around telling lies that the ANC government has not delivered any services. “Some forget deliberately because they don’t want credit to go to the ANC,” he said.

Zuma discussed the ANC’s successes in bringing down apartheid, bringing equality, and providing free houses, electricity, water and education.

He said parties that wished to unseat the ANC from the government were daydreaming and should not be taken seriously. He also took a swipe at some organisations formed by those “expelled”, saying “they have their own problems”.
