‘ANC will increase support in KZN’

2014-04-04 00:00

THE ANC in KwaZulu-Natal is optimistic that the party will increase its grip on the province by winning the coming elections by a big margin.

ANC provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala yesterday said in Durban the party saw during its door-to-door campaigns that it will be possible to reach its targets with an overwhelming majority.

He said ANC supporters are very loyal and would not vote for another party.

If ANC members have problems, they would rather withhold their vote and ask the party to address the issues rather than vote for someone else, he said.

Zikalala added the ANC’s support base has grown with each recent by-election, “leaving the opposition angry and frustrated”.

More than 10 members of the ANC’s national executive council will embark on a door-to-door campaign in KZN to talk to communities.

ANC deputy president Cyril Ramaphosa will start the campaign tomorrow evening by meeting with the mostly white community in Amanzimtoti.

“No one in the opposition has a credible manifesto to take South Africa forward,” Zikalala said.
