Abandoned blind puppy proves to be a brave little fighter

A BLIND puppy that was abandoned in a driveway in Austerville, Durban, is turning out to be quite the fighter.

The owner of Project Dog in Durban, Quicha Morgado, said when she first saw the terrier cross, her eyes had not opened but after two visits to the vet, she was told the puppy was blind and had no chance of ever regaining sight.

“The lady who found her said that at about 4 am, she heard dogs barking and then she saw this little puppy on her driveway.

“There is no way the puppy could have walked to that house with her disability. She was obviously left there.”

The woman called on Project Dog for help.

Morgado, who named the little puppy Tiffany, said her eyeballs had shrunk due to an untreated infection.

“She is a happy eight-week-old little fighter that does not look fazed by her disability.

“Her senses are quite heightened. She walks very slowly, feeling her way through places like a blind person would. She is very cautious, moving her body to feel her way around.”

Many inquiries had been received through Facebook and on Morgado’s personal phone for the puppy, she said.

“I am starting the screenings with people who want to adopt her today. I have had many calls for her but she needs to go to a safe home with someone who will look after her all day.”

Tiffany is currently in a foster home but will hopefully have a home by Christmas.
