Abduction in Underberg

2013-07-25 00:00

THE seven men arrested in connection with the abduction of Underberg businessman Mohsin Patel (25) could appear in court today or tomorrow, according to KZN police spokesperson Colonel Vincent Mdunge.

Yesterday, Mdunge said there was a lot to be done, including pointing out scenes and determining who had played what role in the crime.

The Witness reported yesterday that Patel was held in captivity for 22 days by people he suspected were his business opponents in the Underberg area.

A ransom of R1 million was demanded and on Friday his brother deposited R100 000 into a bank account as ordered by the men.

However, when Patel was not released, his family reported the matter to the police and a private security and investigating company. He was found in the early hours of Tuesday morning, chained to a bed in a room in Port Shepstone.
