Accidents: Three die in KZN

2010-01-11 00:00

THREE people were killed and 12 were injured in accidents in KZN at the weekend.

On the R603 near Mid-Illovo, a double-cab bakkie crashed into a taxi that had spun out of control across the road, leaving two people dead and 10 injured.

“The bakkie left the road and the taxi came to rest obstructing one lane,” said Netcare spokesman Jeff Wicks.

Two occupants of the taxi died, and the injured patients were transported to hospitals in Durban and Pietermaritzburg.

In Durban, at the intersection of Goble and Umgeni road, a bakkie being chased by police after fleeing the scene of an earlier accident slammed into another vehicle, leading to the death of a woman passenger in the bakkie.
