Accused amigo: savoi allowed to travel abroad

2011-12-06 00:00

CORRUPTION accused Gaston Savoi has been given the go-ahead to travel to Brazil on business from December 6 to 16, and to France on December 28, returning on January 7 next year.

Savoi’s application before regional magistrate Chris van Vuuren was not opposed by the state yesterday in line with last week’s ruling by the Supreme Court of Appeal that his bail conditions should be amended to make it easier for him to do business abroad since he is not considered a flight risk.

Savoi may only travel abroad for business reasons, however, and has to notify the police investigating officer (who retains possession of his passport) of his proposed plans at least 10 days before he leaves on any trip.
