Acoustic rock outfit in Pietermaritzburg

2007-12-07 00:00

Gently Scar’d is an acoustic rock outfit, which started out in early 2005 and through regular gigging and dogged perserverence, has started making inroads into the South African music industry.

The band consists of Carice Goossens on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, who is also responsible for the songwriting, Jacques Cronjé on drums and backing vocals, Anthony Koopman on bass and Friso Woudstra on lead guitar, as well as the occasional cameo appearance from guitarist Devlon Horne.

The Gently Scar’d sound is described as rhythmic and melodic, and the group’s act features a standard percussion interlude that usually revs the crowd up.

Gently Scar’d’s debut album No Pink Flowers is produced by Durban producer Dave Birch.

The band is signed with Sheer Sound and published through EMI and is endorsed by AKG Austria.

The band’s music is playlisted on a number of radio stations nationwide.
