African story theatre

CHRISTMAS entertainment South African style comes to the Playhouse from December 19 to December 30 with Gcina Mhlope’s story theatre piece, African Mother Christmas. The show features the internationally acclaimed writer and storyteller herself as the show’s narrator, along with a cast of 11 actors, singers and dancers. The story is set in Valley of a Thousand Hills.

According to Mhlope, the show brings to the stage celebrations with an African flavour, including the first tasting of the fruit, the planting of a garden and the end of harvest celebration. There is a life-size elephant puppet for Mother Christmas to ride, and lots of fun for the while family.
