AFROPOP giant Afrosoul is set to launch its latest album at the Zulu Jazz Lounge — one of four music events lined up at the Zulu Jazz Lounge and The King Club in Durban this weekend.

To celebrate the launch of Usemncane, the band will party the night away with fans and support acts such as DJs Cindo, Andre, Skinny and Vumar, and live acts Sbo Da Poet, Londee, Kwaito act OverDue and Afropop sensations The GeeBees.

There are 14 smashing tracks on the new album and the band has just finished shooting the music video for the title track Usemncane, which will be out soon. Tomorrow night’s launch will be followed by a tour of KwaZulu-Natal, which aims to support the poor and give back to the community.

Afrosoul is considered one of the best Afro-pop groups in South Africa. In 2008 it won a Metro FM Award for best Afro-pop and a year later was nominated for the same award in the MTN South African Music Awards.

Tickets for tomorrow night’s event are R80 at Computicket.

Tonight the Zulu Jazz Lounge and The King Club, which are based at the Playhouse in Anton Lembede (Smith) Street, host Rythmic Elements with DJs Vumar, Bongz, Twitty, Andre, 15, Nzwiri, T-Roxter, Honest and Next in The King Club; and Black Moss and Friends, featuring T.H.O.T.S., Drumkit, DJ Abu and Alpha, in the Zulu Jazz Lounge.
