Alex Week: Teams shine despite heat

IT WAS a good start to the Alex Cricket week on Tuesday where there were some good performances with both bat and ball, despite the high temperatures which were above 40° on the three fields at Alex.

It would have been a little cooler at Howick.

Howick recorded the biggest win of 238 runs after bowling Clapham out for just 46.

Siyanda Buthelezi made 92, the top score of the day, helping his side to 279 for 8.

James Gouweloos from St Charles Colts, Michael Hutton from Weston, Josh Foster from Howick and Jason Niemand from Lilyfontein all produced good all-round performances. Two fifers by Hutton and Niemand were the bowling performances of the first day.

Wartburg 92 (R Ackloo 4 /20, Selby Shongwe 3/18), Alex Invitational XI 92/6 ( Gule 52), Alex Invitational XI won by 4 wickets.

Lilyfontein 199/9 (J Niemand 44),

Alex 121 ( J Niemand 5/27, M Madyibi 3/26), Lilyfontein won by 78 runs.

Howick 279/8 ( S Buthelezi 92, Josh Foster 67), Clapham 41 all out Josh Foster 3/12, Howick won by 238 runs.
