Alexandra Park: woman raises alarm over metal railing theft

2009-08-17 00:00

A CITY woman has raised concerns about a man who allegedly stole railings alongside the Alexandra Park road. The woman, who spoke to The Witness on condition of anonymity, said she saw a man dismantling the iron rails from the pedestrian guard rail. “I jog along the road every morning and I have seen this man several times, carrying long poles or busy taking the park railings out from the guardrail.” Neither the police nor Msunduzi Municipality were aware of the matter. Msunduzi Municipality spokeswoman, Ntobeko Ngcobo, said the matter will be investigated. It is believed that the man sells the railings to scrap metal dealers.
