‘All shook up’: Show that combines Shakespeare, Elvis and loud music

2010-04-22 00:00

HILTON College pupils are joining forces with girls from Epworth and Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School to present All Shook Up in the Hilton College Theatre at 7.30 pm from April 26 to 29.

The show is inspired by and features the songs of Elvis Presley. Based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, it is set in the Midwest of the United States in the fifties.

Chad, a hip-swivelling, guitar-playing roustabout, has just been released from prison and causes quite a stir by riding into town, playing his music and exciting the local women. The mayor’s strict rules — no tight pants, no public necking and, worst of all, no loud music — make life a little dull, but Chad promises to breathe some life into this sad, little town and that of young tomboy mechanic, Natalie.

Featuring hits such as Jailhouse Rock, All Shook Up and Blue Suede Shoes, the show takes you on a journey of love, friendship and discovery.

Tickets are R65 (R50 school block bookings) at 033 383 0126.
