All to play for at Oval for Dolphins

2010-11-06 00:00

THE Dolphins lost a second straight rain-affected MTN40 match last night, this time at Centurion to the Titans.

In a match reduced to 27 overs a side, the Dolphins lost by 11 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method, despite being two runs short of the Titans’ total.

The Titans’ win was based on a strong showing by their spinners, with Roelof van der Merwe and Faf du Plessis sharing five wickets.

Blake Snijman had struck 68 off 51 balls to set the Titans on their way, and there were several smaller contributions as the home side set a stiff target.

In chasing, the Dolphins made a good start, with captain Imraan Khan and Loots Bosman adding 49 in six overs.

Ahmed Amla weighed in with 48 from 38 balls, but regular wickets undermined the Dolphins’effort.

Glen Adicott struck a brisk 30 towards the end, but it was too little, too late.

The Dolphins will now turn their attentions to the Pietermaritzburg Oval, where they will host the Warriors tomorrow.

The Warriors have had an up-and-down campaign since the Champions League, but they do have captain Davey Jacobs back in their line-up.

They also lost last night — by 120 runs to the Knights — so tomorrow’s clash is a must-win for both sides.

The match starts at 11 am; gates open at 10 am. Tickets are R20 for adults and R10 for scholars on the grass.
