Alleged killer in court

A MAN suspected of murdering a woman whose body was found in a shallow grave in Sweetwaters appeared in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Sibongiseni Africa Mbhele (26) appeared in the ­Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.

Mbhele was arrested on Saturday in Chesterville for the murder of kwaMashu woman, Phumzile Precious Mkhize (42). She had been reported missing since June 6, after her family realised that she had not ­returned from work in kwaMashu. After a week-long search, police found her body in a shallow grave in Sweetwaters.

Three suspects were arrested after they were found in possession of Mkhize’s car — a red Polo Vivo.

Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Jay Naicker said Mbhele’s case was remanded to June 24 at the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court.

“He will remain in custody until his next court ­hearing,” said Naicker. — Witness Reporter.
