Amanzimtoti primary marks 75 years of excellence

2011-01-31 00:00

AMANZIMTOTI Primary School celebrated its 75th birthday on Friday. After a week of pouring rain the weather played along and gave the school a beautiful sunny day to celebrate.

This school opened its doors on January 29, 1936, with 29 pupils, two assistant teachers and headmistress Mrs J. King-Lees.

Today at Amanzimtoti Primary the focus is on holistic education and the school is continually striving to improve its premises and facilities to give learners access to the most modern educational equipment. An example of how appreciative the local community is of the quality of education is that 99% of the parents pay school fees regularly.

The headmaster, Doug Lanyon, says the school is “privileged and grateful to have the support of the community” and that he is looking forward to many more years of delivering quality service to children and parents in the area.
