Another 'Idols' contestant bites the dust as votes go against Gail Nkoane

2010-09-08 00:00

GAIL Nkoane, who once enjoyed a stint as a Kaizer Chiefs cheerleader, is free to return to duty tonight for the Maritzburg United game at Harry Gwala Stadium.

Nkoane, who was born and bred in Kimberly and is a former Miss Teen SA finalist, garnered the least votes last night in Idols on M-Net and is now out of the competition.

The show last night featured a number of lengthy adverts as well as two power performances by SA rock stalwarts The Parlotones — the latter being Push Me To The Floor which elicited a lacy red bra being thrown on stage from an enthusiastic audience member.

On Sunday, Nkoane chose the song Please Don’t Leave Me by Pink, but none of the judges was swayed and three of SA’s five regional radio stations predicted her downfall.

Prior to the voting, co-host Leizel van der Westhuizen asked the bottom three girls whether they were surprised to be there.

“At the end of the day it’s the votes that count,” Nkoane correctly stated. “We all did our best.”

The remaining top nine contestants share the stage with the Parlotones at Montecasino tonight and resume battle on Sunday evening.

Idols is broadcast on M-Net at 6 pm every Sunday.
