Arrested for rape lies

A WOMAN, who sent police on a wild goose chase, will face charges of defeating the ends of justice and perjury after it was discovered that she lied about being kidnapped, raped and forced to cook human heads in Umzinto. The 34-year-old woman was arrested by the Richards Bay organised crime unit in Durban yesterday.

The Umzinto cane fields are infamous for the discovery of women’s bodies.

Senior Superintendent Jay Naicker said police investigated after the woman reported to them that she was lured from Durban by someone who promised her a job at Isipingo. She said she and two other women were taken to Umzinto by three men whose faces were covered. They claimed that they were repeatedly raped and forced to cook human heads.

However, when the police traced the woman’s boyfriend in Empangeni, he said she was with him on the day she said the rape took place, and he paid for her to return to Durban the day she said she fled her abductors.
