A 40-YEAR-OLD man was arrested on Saturday night following the death of 21-year-old Jikijela Zondi, who was found in theThembalihle area with stab wounds to the chest.

It is alleged that Zondi had an argument with a man at a tavern, after which they were both asked to leave.

SAPS spokeswoman Inspector Joey Jeevan said it is believed that the argument continued outside where Zondi hit the man on his head with a beer bottle. The man left and went home, only to return later to stab Zondi in the chest. The suspect was found in possession of a knife believed to be the murder weapon. He is expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court shortly.
