Art in the Park: call for 2011 submissions

2011-02-03 00:00

NASHUA Art in the Park applications close on February 11, so prospective exhibitors need to get their submissions in as soon as possible.

With 20 stands automatically going to last year’s top 20 sellers, there are only 33 stands available for the event, which will run from June 1 to June 5 at Alexandra Park in Pietermaritzburg.

It’s the 49th year that the event is taking place and the organisers are hoping for similar or better levels of success than that achieved in 2010 when sales reached R1,6 million.

Pietermaritzburg Tourism’s events manager, Buhle Ndwandwe, says artists wanting to exhibit at the event, South Africa’s top outdoor art-selling exhibition, should submit an application accompanied by four samples of their work (either original work or photographs) in a portfolio format. All the applications will be considered by a judging panel.

A R10 entrance fee will be charged, with children under 12 allowed in free.
