Artist’s open studio includes lectures and sale of works

PIETERMARITZBURG artist Nicky Leigh is hosting an open studio at her home in Bisley on Sunday from 2 pm to 6 pm.

Visitors will be able to view Leigh’s oil paintings and works on paper, including pastels and watercolours. Her subjects range from landscapes to horses, animals, nudes, portraits and dream images.

Leigh, whose work can be found in public, corporate and private collections­, will be selling some of the works on show, as well as a mood- disorder­ DVD that was produced following­ a series of lectures given by professionals in the field of mental health at her exhibition earlier this year at the Jack Heath Gallery at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Visitors will also be able to look at work by the Everard group of women artists, of which Leigh is the fourth generation, view photos of the Everard­ family, books about them and reproduced prints of their work.

Joining Leigh for the open studio is acclaimed poet and playwright, Kobus­ Moolman, who will be promoting­ his latest collection of poems titled­ Light and After, and Richard­ Harrison­, who will be selling his aluminium­ flutes.
